Shelby’s background in costuming and make believe started early with her family’s hobbies of Star Trek conventions, Civil War reenacting and community theater. In high school Shelby and her sister started an online business constructing anime costumes. They used the profits to travel all over the country competing in costume masquerades at anime and comic book conventions.
Love of travel, problem solving and story telling brought Shelby to the field of video production. Finding interesting characters and bringing their lives to the screen is Shelby’s passion. She is currently a freelancer with several production companies in Madison, WI, and teaches media to young people with the Madison School District.
Sarah has a life long background in travel, meeting diverse people and being creative. Stories were an essential part of her life then and continue to be. In her family, everyone was always either reading a book or talking about the book they were reading.
Sarah’s work often deals with questions of why people are drawn to the world of fantasy and make believe. Her parents were heavily involved in the sub culture of the sixties, and to this day she loves spending time with youth who invest their time in subcultures, as well as those who never grow out of it.
Recently, Sarah finished a degree studying textile design. Having been to over 30 countries, travel have presented the opportunity to study and observe a wide range of material culture across the globe. Sarah is fascinated with the way humans are drawn to make things and create environments that reflect their heart and culture. The crossing of clothe and culture is the perfect area for her examination, as it is the intersection of Sarah’s interests.
